Bluegrass ArtistsCedar Hill Bluegrass Band![]() Originally formed in 1967 by Frank Ray and his uncle Richard Orchard, it was genuine, soulful, emotion-packed music that could only be classified as "the real thing". Now, reformed with equally talented members, they are still the real thing. Further, they have a new recording contract with Rich-R-Tone Records and CEO Fred Congdon couldn't be more pleased. In Congdon's comments, he explained that Rich-R-Tone Records is the oldest bluegrass record label in existance and played a big role in the early days of bluegrass. (People such as the Stanley Brothers and others first recorded on the label.) Congdon told that he first met Ray at the home of a friend near Hendersonville, TN who had invited him over to do a little jamming. With Ray was his friend and fellow musician Mel Besher. Upon returning home to Missouri, Frank Ray called Congdon and played one of his songs that he and Besher had recorded with Frank's new Cedar Hill Band. The result was a Rich-R-Tone Records contract. Congdon said, "Those two guys produced Journey of Faith, one of the best cds you'll ever hear." |
