Bluegrass ArtistsOzark Alliance The Ozark Alliance is a Bluegrass band from Salem, Missouri (home of The Dillards).They are also the Vaughn family -- Alex, Jenny, Allison, Robin, & Dennis.Alex, age 16, plays guitar & mandolin and sings lead, tenor, & baritone. Jenny, age 14, plays fiddle& mandolinand also sings lead, tenor, & baritone. Robin (the mom) plays upright acoustic bass and sings lead & harmony. Dennis (the dad) plays 5-string banjo & guitar, sings lead& bass, and contributes to the band's song selection with his songwriting. The newest member of the band is Allison, age 3. She has her own fiddle & mandolin, which she plays as often as she can be persuaded. She also sings all the parts, but her specialty is singing bass with Dad. ![]() They became a band in September of 2002 whenAlex & Jenny had been playing forless than a year.In August of 2003, they entered the band contest at the Eureka Springs Bluegrass Festival and took 2nd place out of over 25 bands. In September of2003they competed in the "Youth in Bluegrass" contest at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, and took 1st place. Since then they have played in many great venues in places like Lexington, Nashville,Branson, Eureka Springs, & Colby, KS. They've been honored toopen for orshare the stage with some of thebiggest namesin Bluegrass (The Dillards, Doc Watson, Norman Blake,The Seldom Scene, Rhonda Vincent, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Marty Stuart,Audie Blaylock & Redline, Ronnie Reno, Larry Stephenson, Albert E. Brumley, Jr., David Grier, etc.) Their shows are a combination of traditional and contemporary bluegrass, original arrangements of songs from other genres, and original songs written by the band, and they always include plenty of bluegrass-gospel. |
